Funding Priorities

Week of STEM programs

Utah Governor Spencer Cox made an official proclamation for Utah's first Week of STEM: November 7 - 10, 2022. This year, our goal is to bring STEM to everyone statewide. We are celebrating and highlighting the importance of creating greater inclusion and opportunity for Utah children and families who do not typically have adequate access to STEM resources. We are leveraging the power of private/public partnerships to ensure that resources and opportunities are available for everyone.

There are six new programs as part of Week of STEM that need your support! Learn more about Hydroponics, Micro STEM Fest Kits, Chief Science Officer, Club Ability, Tech-Moms in Color, and FIRST robotics.

STEM in Motion

STEM in Motion travels the state providing hands-on, real-world, project-based learning curriculum to schools and organizations. The STEM in Motion Curriculum Kits are designed to generate a passion for STEM careers in youth, and support the Governor’s initiative for a STEM-competitive workforce in Utah. The STEM in Motion program expands access to students in all regions of Utah, and facilities the ability of the STEM Action Center to bring exciting curriculum and supplies that align with high-demand STEM careers. It also engages teachers in professional development activities in STEM. The STEM in Motion program overcomes funding issues for STEM-based instructional resources that plague many districts, rural and urban. After a very successful pivot to meet the needs of schools post-COVID, gathering feedback from teachers, students, and industry patterns, it is very apparent that these curriculum kits are highly sought after and of great interest to schools throughout the State. You can help us expand this program to reach more districts, schools, and students.

There are many ways that your organization can support the Utah STEM in Motion Program:

  • Donations provide more opportunities for schools to receive STEM in Motion kits
  • In-kind items, such as supplies, curriculum writing, printing, translation, and STEM-related supplies and equipment expand the number of kits and range of topics available

STEM Elementary Magic Shows

Support the magic of science, technology, engineering, and math at an incredible show presented by Paul Brewer and the Utah STEM Action Center. This show travels to elementary schools throughout the state and is an incredible opportunity to convey to elementary students how fun and exciting STEM can be. Our goal is to engage them now so that their passion for STEM will continue to follow them into middle school, high school, college, and their careers. We invite you to consider sponsoring the STEM Show so that we can give more elementary students this exciting experience! Each experience costs a school just under $300.
