The contest is open to teachers from all disciplines because great ideas come from teams with diverse backgrounds and skills. Positive change begins with just one idea, but students always create a ripple effect when it comes to innovating for social good. Code Ninjas Sandy, a coding center for kids, is celebrating Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek), a national annual initiative to inspire kids to take interest in computer science. Throughout the week, Code Ninjas Sandy will host free Hour of Code sessions leading up to a final Holiday Hackathon, where kids can explore coding and win prizes for their creativity while collecting canned goods and food for the Utah Food Bank.

College of Engineering and Technology (CET) at the Utah Valley University is once more celebrating the Engineering and Technology Week. During these celebrations:

  • Students will tour the engineering and technology labs at UVU, have lunch and engage in fun hands-on projects sponsored by the UVU students.
  • Middle and High School students will receive scholarships for technology-related projects from their schools (see web page below for criteria).
  • Students will receive awards and gifts for the winning projects and/or for just visiting UVU.
