Imagine Math Students donate $5000 to COVID-19 Community Response Fund

In the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Imagine Learning is empowering students to contribute to the fight. Their Imagine Math programs encourage students in their learning by awarding them “math points” for successful work and collaboration completion which then can be redeemed for in-kind monetary donations from Imagine Learning to a national charity. Imagine Math uses these points to encourage community engagement in students as they learn in the classroom.

Math Points to Public Health
For the month of April, Imagine Learning worked with the Silicon Slopes charity, Silicon Slopes Serves, to allow Utah students to donate to “COVID-19 Utah Community Response Fund.” This fund provides much-needed support Utah, including:

  • FDA-approved COVID-19 test kits to accelerate the diagnosis of fellow Utahns
  • Medical supplies for those health professionals and nonprofit workers in contact with potentially infected individuals
  • Public health and K-12 education efforts

The results were overwhelming. In just 6 days, Utah students completed 7,000 math lessons and over 250,000 math problems and earned 5 million points. These points were donated by the students which were converted into a $5,000 donation to the COVID-19 Community Response Fund.

Alli Yeager, the Imagine Learning Senior Project Manager for Utah, put it best: “Students are doing math so they can help give back to their community. It’s so great to see!”
