KUTV – In an upcoming event industry and government officials will be present to discuss the current status, needs and resources in computing in Utah, with more than 12 tech companies sharing hands-on exhibits.
The event is called STEM: Day on The Hill held at the Utah State Capitol on Jan. 30 from 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
A short formal program is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. with remarks from Vance Checketts, highlighting Utah’s tech pipeline.
Emphasis will be placed on computer science education. Computer science is one of the most needed jobs in Utah.
Students from Neil Armstrong Academy, a STEM Designated School, will be present to cheer on Paul Brewer, Utah’s STEM Magician, who will follow the formal program with an engaging STEM Show.
Through out the whole morning, interactive industry exhibits will line the rotunda with hands-on activities ranging from making instant snow with polymers to DNA kits to uncover your unique family history to little robots that follow color. A warm breakfast will also be available.
