3D Coin Design Contest

Celebrating America's Story — One County at a Time!


In honor of the United States' 250th anniversary, we invite you to embark on a creative journey! Design a unique 3D printable coin that captures the essence of one of Utah's 29 counties. This is your chance to showcase the rich history, vibrant culture, stunning landscapes, or powerful symbols that make each county special.

Whether you're a budding artist or an experienced designer, this contest is for you! We're excited to see how you bring Utah's diverse stories to life through your designs.

How It Works


The "Celebrating America's Story" contest challenges you to design a commemorative 3D coin representing a specific Utah county. Your design should reflect its unique heritage, natural beauty, or significant contributions.

Who can participate?


This contest is open to Utah residents of all ages! Submissions will be judged in five age-based brackets, ensuring a fair and fun experience for everyone:

  • Kindergarten – 2nd Grade
  • 3rd – 5th Grade
  • 6th – 8th Grade
  • 9th – 12th Grade
  • Adults (18+)

What's in it for the winners?


Winning designs will gain recognition and exciting rewards!

  • Featured in a digital gallery for all to admire.
  • Milled for exhibition, bringing your 3D design into the physical world.
  • Potentially selected for inclusion in displays at museums across Utah.
  • Each winner will receive a gift basket of assorted items valued up to $35 USD!

There will be one winner per age bracket for every county in Utah.

Tools & Resources


You're free to use any 3D modeling software you prefer, such as Tinkercad, Blender, or Fusion 360. There are free versions available for all of these. Tinkercad is great for beginners.

Free design tutorials and county history resources will be available at stem.utah.gov.
