Charlotte Davis from Cache County School District took her 5th grade class on a field trip to the Museum and shared this with the STEM Action Center:

We went to the Hill Aerospace Museum for a lesson on aerodynamics and learned about what happens to make an airplane fly. There was an activity with marbles on a track with two different lay outs. One was straighter and one had more ups and downs. The students had to hypothesize which track would be faster and then discuss why it was the case.

The students also had a hands on activity of creating helicopters to drop off the second level of the museum. It was a great lesson and the students were fully engaged in the discussion, questions, and answering the questions based on what they knew or learned.

Another group was able to tour the museum, learn from the former pilots and workers who were full of knowledge about the planes, helicopters, and weapons on the aircrafts. The kids absolutely loved it.

Charlotte applied these standards for her 5th grade class:
Science Standard 5.1.4 Standard 5.1.5 Standard 5.2.4
