mySTEM Scholars
mySTEM is a program intended to develop leadership skills, engage students in citizen science opportunities, and empower them to serve their communities all through a STEM lens. This competitive, application-based program is for students in grades 6th - 12th. Become a champion for STEM.
What We Do
Our mission at mySTEM is simple: to engage students in the boundless world of STEM through service learning, student-led projects, and connections with STEM professionals. The STEM Action Center, along with your mySTEM mentors and advisors, will support you in solving real-world problems and help set you up to participate in meaningful citizen science endeavors.

Combine Your Passion for STEM with Service
Service learning is a pillar of mySTEM. Participate in mySTEM, become a champion for STEM. Students have the opportunity to develop and execute an Action Plan, which is like a service project with a STEM focus.
Connect With Mentors
Through mySTEM you’ll be assigned a mentor who will guide you, inspire you, and help you navigate the mySTEM program. You will also have access to STEM advisors in many different STEM fields who can answer topic specific questions that may come up while you design and carry out your individualized mySTEM plan.
Empower Your Voice
Your voice matters, and mySTEM is here to amplify it. Throughout the program year, you'll discover how to wield your voice with purpose. Then, as you lead out on your own mySTEM Action Plan, you'll have the opportunity to put those newfound skills into action
Engage in Citizen Science
Have you ever wanted to contribute to real scientific research? mySTEM gives you the chance to participate in citizen science initiatives in your own community and world-wide. You’ll have the opportunity to work on these activities at your assigned mySTEM hub and at home.
Build a STEM Identity
At mySTEM, we're all about building and reinforcing positive STEM identities in young minds, especially those who might not always see themselves represented in STEM fields. We're here to show you that STEM is for everyone!
Growth Opportunities
After a year of participation, you'll have the opportunity to take on available leadership roles, support other participants’ mySTEM initiatives, and learn new skills at your local mySTEM hub. You will also have different chances to meet STEM professionals and other STEM enthusiasts. Your STEM network will grow more every year!

mySTEM Roadmap
May - August
Apply to be a mySTEM program participant. As part of the application, you will need to include a letter of recommendation from an adult in your life, that isn’t a family member.
September
Get notified via email to learn if you were accepted into the program.

Attend the annual mySTEM Program Year Kick-Off!
October - April
mySTEM meetings will happen every month (except December). They will happen in person and will include makerspace learning activities.
May
End of year celebration and share-out of mySTEM projects and accomplishments.
May - July
