1. Pop-Up Maker Faire at Lodestone Park – June 20
Never been to a STEM Action Center Pop-Up? Now’s your chance!
This Pop-Up Maker Faire is at the park and is filled with fun, hands-on STEM activities for kids in Pre-K through 6th grade.
Families can walk from booth to booth, exploring everything from cardboard creations and coding to edible engineering and the science of sound. Kids get to take home their creations and discover the excitement of STEM!

2. Clark Planetarium Laser Shows
Ready for an out-of-this-world adventure? Head to the Clark Planetarium and explore exciting exhibits that dive into the wonders of science and technology. From walking on Mars to seeing your own heat radiation, and even smelling different planets, there’s something for everyone!
The real showstopper is the Hansen Dome Theatre, a 55-foot immersive dome that transports you to other worlds. Don’t miss the laser shows, where music and light collide in a spectacular display set to your favorite hits from artists like Taylor Swift and AC/DC.

3. Find Your Local Makerspace
Got a project idea or eager to learn a new skill? The STEM Action Center’s Innovation Hub is the perfect space for all ages to spark creativity and dive into hands-on STEM projects.
This 2,000 sq. ft. makerspace is open every Friday for Open Tinker Time. Your chance to explore and work on personal creations and gain access to an amazing range of machines and softwares to work on your projects. Or, you can come by on Wednesdays for classes like 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, sublimation, and more!

4. Craft Lake City DIY Fest – August 8-10
Don’t miss this annual celebration of creativity, imagination, and innovation! Craft Lake City’s DIY Fest is Utah’s largest local-focused festival showcasing art, music, science, and technology.
With over 500 local artisans, this event highlights the beauty of handmade work and honors the talented crafting community. Explore unique vendors, vintage finds, delicious food, and support young entrepreneurs, performers, and STEM exhibitors. All in one vibrant event!

5. ASTROFEST 2025 – June 20-22
Southern Utah is home to some of the most stunning parks you’ll ever see, a region rich in history, science, and emerging technology.
Now in its fourth year, the Southeast Utah Astronomy Festival returns June 20–22, with events across Arches National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and Canyonlands National Park.
Each day offers a variety of activities designed to engage all ages in the wonders of astronomy. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the beauty of dark skies and learn more about the universe above!

6. Heber Valley Railroad
Ever dreamed of riding the Hogwarts Express? The Heber Valley Scenic Railroad is Utah’s magical version! This relaxing ride winds through the stunning Heber Valley, Wasatch Mountains, Deer Creek Reservoir, and along the Provo River to Vivian Park.

7. Star Parties: Antelope island, Goblin Valley State park, and Camp Floyd State Park
Antelope island: Join the passionate astronomers of the Ogden Astronomical Society for an unforgettable night of stargazing at Antelope Island! This out-of-this-world experience includes a watch party where you’ll learn about stars, the sun, planetary nebulae, star clusters, and distant galaxies. Telescopes will be provided, and the event is free!
Camp Floyd State Park: Experience a blend of mystery and wonder at the Camp Floyd Cemetery, where dark skies set the stage for an evening of stargazing. In partnership with the Utah Valley Astronomy Club, you’ll explore the night sky and dive into the fascinating world of space.
Goblin Valley State Park: Join park rangers at the observation point for a night under the stars! Learn about constellations and use telescopes to get a closer look at celestial objects in the vast expanse of space.

8. Drum Making Workshop
Fremont Indian State Park and Museum hosts a variety of fun, family-friendly events that celebrate STEM and the natural world.
One of their recurring favorites is drum making. Guided by talented Utah artists, participants will create their own authentic hide drum, learning how to stretch, lace, and craft both the drum and drumsticks. It’s a hands-on experience that blends creativity, culture, and craftsmanship with the world of engineering.

9. Ogden Nature Center
Discover the many layers of an ecosystem at the Ogden Nature Center! The whole family can enjoy a variety of hands-on learning and crafting activities.

10. Springville Museum of Art Children’s Art Festival – June 13

11. Utah Bookmobiles
Sometimes the best adventures happen right at home, and the Utah Bookmobile brings the fun to your doorstep!
This experience is a great way to spark a love of reading and learning for the whole family. Each Bookmobile carries around 5,000 rotating items from the main library collection in partner communities. You’ll find everything from picture books and easy readers to bestsellers, classics, nonfiction, westerns, romance, large print, DVDs, CDs, and more.
The moving library is open to residents in rural areas across Garfield, Kane, Piute, Iron, Sanpete, Sevier, Wayne, and Utah counties.

12. The City Library
Salt Lake City’s Library is more than just books, it’s a space to spark your imagination and creativity! Spanning five floors and featuring a brand-new rooftop terrace, the library hosts events for the whole family almost every day.
Events include free rooftop yoga, gardening workshops, video game competitions, and more.

13. The Gateway Urban Arts Festival – August 30
Get ready to experience the social and cultural heartbeat of the SLC community! Join the artists at the Gateway on Saturday, August 30 for the Urban Arts Festival which celebrates creativity through art, music, and performance.

14. Thanksgiving Point Outdoor Movie Night Series
What better way to dive into the world of STEM than through the magic of movies? Many already know and love the breathtaking Ashton Gardens—a stunning 50-acre destination filled with elegant gardens, expansive lawns, and home to the largest manmade waterfall in America. Now, picture enjoying a film with that incredible view as your backdrop!
Beginning June 27th, viewers can choose from a lineup of movies selected by popular vote. On July 18th, they’re featuring The Wild Robot, a heartwarming sci-fi adventure from DreamWorks. This film offers a perfect introduction to robotics and design. The main character, Roz, is a remarkable example of advanced robotics: her sensors, movement, and power systems reflect real-life technology. 15. Natural History Museum Mysteries of the Ice Ages, Opening June 7
Ever wondered what life was like during the Ice Age? Now’s your chance to step back in time and uncover its mysteries at the Natural History Museum’s exciting new special exhibit!
