Lesson: Microscopic Science

Sarah Broadbent

Title
Lesson Description

Use a set of microscopes for a life sciences lesson. Students learn about structures and functions of organisms by making observations of different organic material.  In Cassandra Earl’s classroom, they used microscopes for standard 4.1.1, she said:

Students had the opportunity to observe and explore a wide variety of items (salt, hair, seeds, pill bugs, brine shrimp eggs, etc.) under microscopes. They had a note sheet to write down descriptive observations and sketches of the items they got to see up close.

The observation sheet she used is attached. If funds are needed to get some classroom microscopes, consider applying for a classroom grant through the STEM Action Center.
